First Fabric Known to Man
The hemp plant, also called cannabis or marijuana, has been used around the world for thousands of years. Sometime around 7000 - 8000 BCE, the first fabric is believed to have been woven from dried hemp weed..Hemp fabric being woven into not only fabric, but baskets, ropes, and who knows what else..even in the united states today hemp is used in many products. This is but one of the products that can be gleaned from this magical weed....
Weed has many uses you might not expect...
Ford's Hempmobile
In 1908, Henry Ford made his first Model T with hemp plastic. The car was fueled with hemp ethanol..Can you believe that fords Model T was made with hemp products, and ran on fuel made from the Cannibus plant. That's something you don't learn in school.....
The Cannibus plant has made a notable appearance throughout history.
Cannabis Seeds Used as Food
Around 6000 BCE hemp seeds were used as food in China. By 2727 BCE, the Chinese documented the use of cannabis as a medication to treat a variety of health problems. They later grew the plant on a large scale for food and fiber. It has even been reported to had come to America with a very famous visitor,
Marijuana Comes to the New World
In 1492, Christopher Columbus brought Cannibis Sativa to America. These are just some of the interesting facts I've located on this miracle weed. It has been used for food, for fuel, and for fabrics. It was brought to America by one of our founding forefathers. And, interestingly enough, grown by one.
Presidential Marijuana
At Mount Vernon, George Washington grew hemp as his primary crop in 1797. Thomas Jefferson grew hemp as a secondary crop at Monticello. The economy has profited off of all of these uses and more for well over 200 years. It has been part of our culture, and is now widely accepted in most of the civilized world. In the Netherlands, it is legal. Crime Rates have significantly dropped as a result of the Legalization, and police are able to go back to protecting the community, Rather than harassing them. I believe that the smoking of this plant is our right under the Constitution and Bill of Rights. How can this not be considered a personal freedom?
What excuses will they use to explain it to us so we can understand their manipulative way of thinking? And will we buy into it, as we have always done. We prohibited alcohol in the 1930's and America wasn't having that. Why is it that this prohibition continues? Especially now, that it has begun to be more widely accepted. I've heard continually, that weed can't be taxed. Are you kidding me? The government can tax anything, and does most frequently. If you knew what you actually paid in taxes it would probably make you sick. The things that the American government does to supposedly protect us, from terrorists, among other threats, have led to the infringement of personal freedoms that should never been taken away in the first place. I see no justifiable reason for the Prohibition of Marijuana to continue. Please feel free to leave a comment if you disagree.
